Lecce 2-4 Palermo Match Report
Monday, February 7th, 2011With news filtering through that Abel has had interest shown from top European clubs such as Arsenal, Inter Milan & Tottenham Hotspur, he has announced that he will STAY at Palermo because of the debt he owes to his Italian club Palermo.
Abel said: ‘Arsenal want me? I’m very good at Palermo, both in the town and with my team-mates.
‘I’d love to stay another two or three years here, because it would make me grow. Then in the future if there will be an offer by a great club, we’ll see.’
‘My first experience I had in Italy during a trial with Genoa, they didn’t take me for my heart problems, while Palermo believed in me and got me the surgery,’ he said. ‘For this also, I’ll always thank the Rosanero club.’
According to agent Vincenzo D’Ippolito Abel Hernandez was approached by Tottenham Hotspurs at the end of last season.
D’Ippolito told reterete24: “In May, Tottenham asked Hernandez to leave Palermo, but the deal never occurred because (club president Maurizio) Zamparini said the player was unsellable.”
Inter Milan are taking a closer look at Abel Hernandez, along with English side Arsenal. ‘The Jewel’ scored goals against Lazio & Inter Milan last season plus a total of four goals in the 2010 Europa League so far.
With the interest hotting up, it will be very interesting to see whether Abel will stay at Palermo or leave for bigger and better things.
Arsene Wenger Wants To Sign Hernandez
Saturday, September 11th, 2010Arsene Wenger has shown an interest in signing Palermo striker Abel Hernandez for a fee in the region of €15M from Palermo.
Wenger believes that Abel has massive potential and is desperate to see off several Serie A clubs. Palermo, however are desperate to see off Arsenals interest, they feel that the 20 year old is a real gem and is tipped for a huge future in the game.

He said: “The coach always tells me to sacrifice myself, I found him the position of striker, but always tells me to return. I enjoy it more since the middle game and not on the left wing, but since there Cavani lack a little ‘glue between the departments, he was a specialist.”
“My personal goal is to go into double figures, so I train and I also got four pounds to be more robust stability with the dream to conquer the national team and play alongside Forlan. Balotelli? It ‘a great he and Shepherd are the best. The lure of Barcelona and Arsenal? I’m fine in Palermo, but if I had to choose I would go to Spain. “
A disappointing game ended goal-less as Palermo couldn’t score past an impressive Agazzi.
